4X4 DOUBLE FEATURE
Is watching a film and then immediately relating your like to a personal anecdote dead?
I used to know I loved a film when I stalked the main “actor.” You get the double anecdote that Alia Shawkat is my tallest, stalkiest, celebrity crush, thanks to Duck Butter.
I worry I’m only as good as my “favorite trip” anecdote to tell.
I like this film because it empowers me to rage against films like Irréversible, a French film that came out in 2002. —
There are more women that are written through the experience of the man experiencing them more than there are women that were written through the consulation of other women. —
Just one woman outside of an experience in which she serves you could have saved Irréversible, and other films that claim to be female driven. —
What I felt from Love and Pop was an anecdote being told directly to me, versus an anecdote being played out for the creator’s pleasure.
I was lucky enough to strike a conversation with a fellow movie goer after the show. I asked if he liked the film, and he said that he did because he was self-reflective through out it. I agreed that I was also self-reflective, but I had no idea that this could be considered a criteria for a good, quality film.
